Here is a vivid description of what a client goes through after enrolling at Activo Fitness. We call it “The Activo Experience”:
  1. The client goes through consultation with one of our qualified trainers.
  2. The client is oriented about lifestyle changes and given a personalized fitness program based on the initial consultation.
  3. Client is coached how to do the exercises safely and effectively.
  4. Client is given a stretching session to release muscle tension.
  5. Client may join any group exercise.
  6. Client may do his/ her post-workout activities using the center’s facilities for free (sauna, shower).
  7. Client is coached for 1 or 2 more workout sessions to ensure mastery of the exercise movements. Each workout session comes with a free stretching session.
  8. Client may ask the trainer anytime for questions regarding health, fitness, food, lifestyle changes, or any other concerns.
  9. After 6-8 weeks the client may approach his/ her trainer for evaluation.

Activo Fitness offers discounted rates for companies for a minimum of 5 enrollees per company. We have different membership packages:
  • Bronze (1 month)
  • Silver (3 months)
  • Gold (6 months)
  • Platinum (12 months)

The cost per person ranges from only 23 to 52 pesos per day. This is a very small investment considering all the benefits and savings both the employer and the employee can get through an effective wellness program. Please see attached sheet for complete details of the rates

WHP is good not just for the body. It’s good for the business.

One may ask, “Can’t we simply hire a zumba instructor to conduct a daily zumba class at our office? It’s much cheaper than sponsoring gym memberships for employees.” Many local companies actually do this as their WHP. Although a daily zumba class incurs very little cost, it achieves little or no ROI because it is not effective in promoting health and wellness. Why? Here are the two main reasons:
  1. As mentioned earlier, to make a WHP effective, it should contain these three elements: individual counseling, coaching and self-management training. A daily Zumba class offers none of these.
  2. Zumba or any “cardio” activity (aerobic activity) offers very little benefit to the body. People need anaerobic activities and resistance training.

AEROBIC VS. ANAEROBIC

Have you ever wondered why people who do a lot of “cardio” like zumba or jogging still have a hard time controlling their weight?

Aerobic activities or “cardio” are low-intensity activities that take several minutes. Examples are jogging and zumba. Anaerobic activities are high intensity and take a few minutes or seconds. An example is sprinting. Aerobic activities lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels, normalize blood pressure, lower body fat and increase endurance. But it also causes:
  • Severe injuries in the hip, knee and lower back
  • It lowers metabolism, making it hard to control weight in the long run
  • It makes you lose body shape (no curves)

While anaerobic activities offer the same benefits as aerobic activities, it has a lot more extra benefits such as:
  • Better body shape
  • Increased metabolism for long-term weight control
  • Stronger muscles, joints, ligaments and tendons
These benefits do not apply to aerobic training, that is why weight management still poses a challenge to people who do only “cardio”.

RESISTANCE TRAINING

Resistance training is the process of stressing the body (usually with bodyweight, weights, resistance bands) to increase muscle strength and endurance. Examples are:

  • Push ups
  • Pull ups
  • Squats
  • Lifting weights
Resistance training is the key to long-term weight control and to maintain functionality even as we age:
  • To climb stairs easier
  • To carry things easier
  • To walk longer
  • Avoid accidents like slipping or falling
Besides that here are the other benefits of resistance training:
  • It makes you stronger
  • Reverses the aging process
  • Builds bone and prevents osteoporosis (even in the elderly)
  • Increases metabolism for long-term weight control

These benefits do not apply to “cardio”, and that is why doing only “cardio” like zumba or jogging is not effective to keeping healthy in the long run.
